Laser cutting and engraving serves a wide variety of industries with an endless list of applications since 1975 in industrial size manufacturing to hobbyist and designers….
What is laser cutting?
Laser cutting is a technology that uses laser to cut through materials and is typically used for industrial manufacturing applications. It works by directing the output of a high power laser by computer at the material to be cut. The material then either melts, burns or vaporizes away or is blown away by a jet of gas (co2) leaving the edge with a high quality surface finish.
What is laser engraving?
Laser engraving is a form branding or marking whereby an image, logo or text or pattern is melted or burned into a material. This is marked with a non-contact method. Therefore the wear and tear associated with conventional tooling is not present. This reduces the potential product damage and deformation. This mark is permanent, concise and clean.
Finishing could be protected by applying plastic or paper application tape that could easily but carefully removed after laser cutting is done. This is not always advisable when engraving is done on the same surface that requires protection. As the application will give of an additional residue when engraved and hinders the laser beam on its maximum focus on the surface that needs to be engraved.
We are unable to cut through any metal, however we are able to engrave on anodised, powder coated, epoxy coated and painted metal surfaces and we are able to edge onto metal that are marked by using laser activated metal spray and will leave a mark on gold, brass, aluminium and stainless steel.
